This Practitioner’s Notebook volume series (1-3) is over 1000 pages and combines the reading essentials outlined in Scarborough’s Rope. *Note: This product includes a basic language deck.
Given time constraints, it is difficult to pull from several different resources to create a lesson that is supported by the Science of Reading. This resource, in conjunction with the Five Essentials for Literacy Development Student Workbook, provides 108 comprehensive lessons in one place to minimize prep time and maximize learning.
We have taken the Orton Gillingham Basic Language lessons, which are phonics and phonemic awareness (the bottom strands of the rope), and we have added fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension (the top strands of the rope) to each lesson on our scope and sequence. Not only is this approach backed by the Science of Reading, but it also provides the students exposure to each strand of the rope, sending them along the continuum of literacy development.
